ERT Training Seminars to Date

Early seminars consisted of approximately thirteen presentations, as described below. The content of the seminars is revised during each cycle (Phase) of visits to the Federal Regions.

  • National Communications System — provided an overview of the NCS' history, dynamics and its coordinating responsibilities/requirements during an emergency

  • Federal Response Plan — covered planning assumptions, policies, organizational structures, responsibilities, and an overview of each Emergency Support Function (ESF)

  • Recent Operational Issues — provided an overview of Emergency Support Function (ESF) #2 (Communications) operations

  • ESF #2 (National) — provided an overview of the National Coordinating Center for Telecommunications (NCC), including its mission, history, participants, emergency and disaster response operations, and day-to-day operations

  • ESF #2 (Regional) — described FEMA's Emergency Response Teams (ERT), focusing on each ESF primary agency and its roles and responsibilities during a Presidentially declared disaster

  • Telecommunications Service Priority System (TSP) — detailed how TSP supports response operations, how to request a TSP and prioritization of requests

  • State Operations — provided emergency response information on State responsibilities and coordination

  • Panel Discussion — provided local, State, and Federal organizations and industry representatives with the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion, which focused on the coordination requirements among the various emergency response organizations and helped familiarize participants with telecommunication requirements in a disaster situation

  • Emergency Response Link (ERLink) — presented an online demonstration using its Web site, illustrating how emergency managers can access and add critical information during emergencies.
