Goals/Objectives
- Enhance NCS mission readiness through staffing,
training, and exercise support
- Focus exercise program to include other organizations
at Federal and Regional levels
Current and Future Initiatives
Training -
The readiness level of the ESF #2 components is sustained
by the ESF #2 Training Conferences augmented by periodic “distance
training” teleconferences.
- Promote awareness of operational policies and procedures
- Promote awareness of communications technologies
- Incorporate lessons learned from ESF #2 deployments
Exercise - The
NCS Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Branch has the lead in
coordinating NCS participation in national level exercises that test
NCS plans and management procedures. The Training and Exercise Team
develops and implements training and exercise programs, identifies
exercises in which capabilities provided by NCS initiatives can be
demonstrated, and integrates NCS initiatives into existing exercises
whenever possible.
- Continue current level of support to the National Response Framework
(NRF) exercises
- Coordinate NCS program involvement
- Increase ESF #2 Support Agency involvement
- Encourage and coordinate industry participation
- Coordinate internal Emergency Response Group (ERG) exercises
and staff support
NCS Augmentee Program
- The NCS Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Program consists
of the U.S. Army reservists who can deploy to support a disaster
response effort. The members are U.S. Army Reserve officers (typically
Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels) with military and/or civilian
training and experience in communications planning and operations;
information system planning and operations; and management of an
Operations Center. The NCS IMA Unit is based in Arlington, VA; however,
the assigned personnel are geographically dispersed throughout the
United States and Puerto Rico.
