NCS Names Bourdon
as Chief, Technology and Programs Branch

VA, February 16, 2009 - The National
Communications System today named Richard Bourdon as its Chief for
Technology and Programs.
Prior to joining the NCS, Bourdon worked with
the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as the Chief of the
Commercial Satellite Services Branch. While there, he was responsible
for leasing commercial satellite bandwidth for the Department of
Defense and other government agencies.
From April 1969 until May 1992, Bourdon served
as a career military enlisted communicator in the Navy, retiring
as a Master Chief Radioman. During that time he served in a variety
of communications positions both shipboard and ashore, worldwide.
His last active duty position was on the Navy Staff, Satellite Branch,
where he wrote and staffed the mission need statement and drafted
the first budget submittal for the Navy’s Commercial Satellite
Program.
After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Bourdon worked
at COMSAT, and other commercial companies prior to joining DISA
in October 2000.
Bourdon graduated from the University of Southern
California in 1985 with a degree in computer systems applications.
