ODNI Names Meyerrose, Nicely to National Communications System Positions

Arlington VA, November 1, 2007 -The Office if the Director, National Intelligence (ODNI) today informed the National Communications System that Dale W. Meyerrose would represent ODNI on the NCS Committee of Principals, effective today.

ODNI also announced that Sherill L. Nicely, Deputy Associate Director of National Intelligence (DADNI) for Intelligence Community Information Technology Governance, would represent ODNI as on the NCS Council of Representatives.

President George W. Bush appointed Mr. Meyerrose as the first Associate Director of National Intelligence and Chief Information Officer on December 21, 2005. He serves as the Chief Information Officer for the United States Intelligence Community and the Intelligence Community Information Sharing Executive.

Mr. Meyerrose came to ODNI after serving over 30 years of military service, culminating with his retirement from the United States Air Force as a Major General in November 2005. He entered the Air Force in 1975 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. His career highlights include service as a director and Chief Information Officer in three Air Force major air commands and three unified combatant commands, a deployed Joint Task Force Director of Communications in Southwest Asia, and a commander of two major Air Force communications units. He is a master parachutist, earned the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, two Legions of Merit, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, and six Meritorious Service Medals.

Mr. Meyerrose received a Master of Business Administration degree, from the University of Utah in 1978. He graduated from the National War College, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington D.C. in 1992. He attended the Senior Information Warfare Applications and Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Courses, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. He also attended the Program for National and International Security, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the U.S. Navy Executive Business Course, Haas School of Business, University of California – Berkeley, at the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California.

As the ODNI Committee of Principals member, Mr. Meyerrose selected Ms. Nicely to serve on the NCS Council of Representatives. Ms. Nicely became the DADNI for Intelligence Community Information Technology Governance following her service since June 2002 as the Director for Information Assurance in the Office of the Intelligence Community Chief Information Officer (IC CIO). She has more than 20 years experience in Information Security and technical documentation and is skilled in analyzing a system's information security needs, performing security risk assessments, and recommending methods of applying security procedures and technology to computer systems

Ms. Nicely directs the IC-wide Information Technology (IT) governance program for the ADNI CIO, overseeing development, coordination and oversight of IT-related Intelligence Community Directives (ICD), policies and guidelines. Her duties include formulating policies and guidelines for an Enterprise infrastructure that supports secure interoperability among Community organizations, and with IC customers. She provides IC members with information assurance compliance and validation support, and independent assessments of compliance with DNI, DoD and federal regulations.

From 1999 until joining the IC CIO staff, Ms. Nicely served as the CIA Information Security Liaison, representing CIA equities at many government fora, including the IC Information Assurance Policy Board (IAPB), the Defense and Intelligence Community Accreditation Support Team (DICAST), and the DISN Security Accreditation Working Group (DSAWG).

Ms. Nicely also served as the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) for CIA systems that share information with the Community. In this role, she was responsible for the overall security of the systems and sensitive information provided, as well as ensuring that CIA staff could collaborate with others. Prior to this assignment, Ms. Nicely served as the Deputy ISSM for the CIA Directorate of Intelligence, ensuring DI systems and information were appropriately secured while making sure that analysts had access to all the information they needed.

Ms. Nicely graduated from the University of Maryland in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.
